CLC Launches Helpline to Assist Students Impacted by CPS Closings
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chicago, IL (July 15, 2013) – In response to the recent CPS school closings, The Educational Equity Project of the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Inc. has launched a new helpline to assist students and families in navigating the re-enrollment process. By calling (773) 8000-EDU, students and families can find the support they need to properly enroll and receive the protections to which they are legally entitled following a school closure.
Our team can help provide answers to questions from parents affected by closures including:
Where should my children enroll in school?
How do I make sure my children are properly enrolled?
What measures should my welcoming school be taking to ensure my child’s safety?
What services am I entitled to at a welcoming school?
What recourse do I have if schools are not providing my child with necessary services?
This week’s launch of the helpline coincides with the last two weeks of enrollment availability for the city-wide school lottery. Parents interested in entering the school lottery must submit an application by 5pm on July 19th.
